Peer Support from Staff in Long-Term Recovery

Many staff members—including leadership, therapists, and peer support workers—are in long-term recovery themselves. This lived experience creates a culture of mutual respect, empathy, and nonjudgment. Clients are supported by people who understand firsthand the challenges of early recovery, and who model what long-term success can look like. Peer support is woven into every level of care. This approach helps clients feel seen and understood, building authentic connections that encourage honesty, accountability, and a sense of shared purpose.

Full Continuum of Care with a Step-By-Step Process

The center offers a full continuum of care that guides individuals through each stage of recovery. Services begin with withdrawal management, where clients receive medication-supported stabilization in a safe, home-like environment. From there, clients enter residential treatment with structured days focused on therapy, peer support, and healthy routines. As progress is made, individuals step into partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient care (IOP), maintaining therapeutic support while gradually reintegrating into daily life. The final phase includes sober living homes with built-in accountability and case management. This phased approach—called “Slowbriety”—ensures each person moves forward at a sustainable pace.

Practical Support for Daily Living

Daily life skills are treated as essential to recovery. After residential care, clients receive transportation not only to therapy and medical appointments, but also to grocery stores, job interviews, and community resources. This hands-on support helps bridge the gap between treatment and real-world responsibilities, especially during transitional phases. Staff work alongside clients to develop budgeting skills, plan meals, and manage schedules—practical tools that support independence. These services are particularly valuable for individuals who may be rebuilding routines or managing life on their own for the first time after substance use treatment.

Aftercare in a Peer-Run Café Setting

The Community Aftercare Program (CAP) offers ongoing support in a welcoming, peer-run café environment. Open to both alumni and current clients, CAP provides flexible access to group sessions, recovery coaching, and informal drop-ins. The café setting encourages connection through conversation, mentorship, and shared experience—without the formality of clinical appointments. Staffed by certified peer support workers, the space fosters community and accountability in a relaxed, stigma-free atmosphere. This helps clients build routine, avoid isolation, and stay grounded as they navigate life in recovery.

An Integrated, Evidence-Based Approach

The center emphasizes evidence-based therapies. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused care, and access to medications for addiction treatment (MAT) in both inpatient and outpatient phases. The program also places a strong emphasis on 12-step integration, encouraging clients to attend daily meetings, engage with sponsors, and apply recovery principles in and outside of treatment. This model offers both structure and spiritual grounding, helping individuals build accountability and connection

Patient Reviews: Compassion, Growth, and Belonging

Alumni consistently report feeling respected, challenged, and genuinely cared for. Many cite Zia as life-changing—not just for its therapies, but for the human connection and sustained support. The diversity of staff experiences and the ability to relate to patients from all walks of life are standout strengths. While a few raised minor concerns about professionalism, the overwhelming majority praise the center’s lasting impact on their lives and recovery.
