Men-Only Recovery on a Secluded Horse Ranch

The Last Resort Recovery serves men on a quiet horse ranch outside Austin, Texas. The rural setting, with open pastures, grazing horses, walking trails, and outdoor lounge areas, gives clients space away from everyday stressors and triggers. Air-conditioned private or shared rooms, a pool, and an onsite gym make day-to-day life more comfortable while clients focus on healing.

Integrated Care for Substance Use and Mental Health

This residential program treats substance use alongside co-occurring mental health disorders, including codependency, grief and loss, stress, trauma, and sex and love issues. Treatment plans are personalized and combine evidence-based therapies with holistic and experiential work, aiming to support the mind, body, and spirit.

Continuous Support From Withdrawal Management to Aftercare

Clients can enter care at multiple levels, starting with medical withdrawal management (detox) and continuing into inpatient residential treatment. As clients stabilize, they can step down into a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which allow more flexibility for work, school, or family responsibilities. After primary treatment, The Last Resort offers aftercare services, support meetings, and access to sober living.

Experiential, Equine, and 12-Step Immersion

Alongside individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy, clients participate in therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodrama, and life skills work. Equine-assisted therapy is a central feature of the ranch setting, giving clients the chance to build trust, practice communication, and explore emotions through hands-on work with horses. Fitness therapy, yoga, outdoor activities, and 12-step work add additional ways to connect with peers and learn practical tools for relapse prevention.

Family Involvement, Medical Care, and Community

Family programming helps loved ones understand substance use and mental health, improve communication, and create a more supportive home environment. Medical staff provide around-the-clock monitoring in early recovery stages, manage withdrawal and other health needs, and offer medication management when appropriate. The center emphasizes a strong sense of brotherhood, reinforced by alumni programming in the Austin area so clients can stay connected to recovery support.
