Detox and Residential Care

Withdrawal management (detox) and residential treatment are offered on one campus, allowing for a smoother transition from one stage to the next. During withdrawal management, clients receive 24/7 monitoring by nurses and other medical staff, who check vital signs and make sure the process is unfolding safely. Medications for addiction treatment can be prescribed when appropriate to ease symptoms and cravings. Once they are ready, clients can move on to residential treatment and participate in regular therapeutic programming.

Evidence-Based and Co-Occurring Mental Health

Evidence-based therapies used by clinicians in individual and group sessions include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention. A method known as Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) aims to provide clients with wellness tools for daily life. Building Recovery Capital is used to help strengthen personal, social, and community resources in recovery. Sea Grove Recovery also provides treatment for clients who have co-occurring mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

12-Step and Non-12-Step Alternatives

During treatment, clients are connected with peer communities for long-term mutual support and accountability. Options include traditional 12-step meetings, along with SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, and Celebrate Recovery. Having access to all of these peer recovery pathways allows clients to choose what works best for them and fits their values. Clients can also participate in equine therapy, an experiential approach involving therapists leading clients through guided interactions with horses.

Wooded Coastal Campus

Sea Grove Recovery Mount Pleasant is a 41-bed facility set on a forested campus near the coast. Clients usually share a room with one roommate, but private rooms may sometimes be available. Meals are prepared by an on-site chef and can be adapted to dietary restrictions. Accommodations include outdoor walking trails and an indoor game room that clients can enjoy between therapy hours. Staff take clients to a nearby gym several times per week.
