Age-Specific Treatment in a Supportive Setting

Sandstone Care provides residential and outpatient treatment designed exclusively for adolescents ages 13 to 18. The program addresses substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Clients follow a structured daily routine that includes individual therapy, group sessions, and academic support, helping teens stay connected to their education goals during care.

Medication Management and Psychiatric Support

In addition to counseling and structured routines, clients at Sandstone Care may receive psychiatric evaluation and medication management to support their recovery. Options such as oral and injectable naltrexone may be used to treat substance use disorders, and psychiatric medications may be prescribed to address co-occurring mental health needs. These services are integrated into the program’s therapeutic model, which supports safer, more comprehensive care.

Trauma-Informed, Values-Based Approach

The program follows a trauma-informed model, integrating therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. Clients also engage with the Commitment, Life Skills, Integrity, Connection, and Community (CLICC) framework, which helps build personal resilience, emotional regulation, and a foundation for long-term recovery.

Family Integration and Aftercare Support

Family involvement is central to care at Sandstone. Parents and caregivers participate in weekly family therapy, receive coaching and education, and collaborate with the care team throughout treatment. After residential care, clients may step down into partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient programs and receive discharge planning and ongoing support. This continuum of care supports long-term recovery and smoother transitions back to everyday life.

What Reviews Say

Patient and parent reviews are mixed but insightful. Many highlight the facility’s caring staff and the emotional progress their teens made during treatment. Others note challenges with communication, peer dynamics, and program structure. Overall, reviews reflect a facility with strong therapeutic potential, but also point to operational inconsistencies that may impact individual experiences.
