Evidence-Based Residential Treatment for Men

Apricity Mooring House, a nonprofit residential facility in downtown Appleton, provides structured treatment for men in recovery from substance use. The program begins with a 45-day high-intensity phase focused on stabilization through daily group sessions and individualized counseling. Evidence-based approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), and trauma-informed counseling, help clients develop coping skills, communication tools, and relapse prevention strategies.

Transitional and Semi-Independent Living Support

After completing the high-intensity program, clients can transition into a lower-intensity residential phase or apply to Apricity’s Semi-Independent Living Treatment (SILT) program. These options provide continued structure while allowing clients to return to work, school, or volunteer roles. Through partnerships with Apricity Contract Packaging in Appleton and Milwaukee, clients gain access to vocational training and employment that reinforce financial stability and self-reliance.

Trauma-Informed, Whole-Person Approach

Care at Mooring House extends beyond clinical treatment. The program incorporates art and music therapy, mindfulness, physical activity, and daily wellness exercises to support emotional balance and personal growth. Treatment is non–12-step-based, focusing instead on personalized, evidence-driven methods that address thinking patterns, self-worth, and accountability within a supportive peer community. This whole-person model helps clients strengthen resilience and sustain recovery beyond treatment.

Supportive Environment and Community

The facility features single-bed rooms, on-site laundry, and a shared kitchen where all meals and snacks are provided. A game room with ping-pong, foosball, and pool tables, along with an outdoor fire pit, fosters connection and relaxation. Convenient access to Valley Transit lines supports independence and accessibility. Staff are on site 24/7 to ensure safety and consistency, reflecting Apricity’s mission to provide treatment and housing and employment assistance within one recovery-focused community.
