Full Continuum of Substance Use Treatment

Adults can step into care at different levels: standard outpatient visits, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and structured day-treatment or partial-hospitalization (PHP) services. Hannibal Recovery also provides withdrawal management supported by on-site medical staff. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and medications for mental health conditions can be prescribed as needed. Outpatient services include options for telemedicine, allowing adults to maintain work and family commitments while in treatment.

Integrated Care for Co-Occurring Disorders

The program is equipped to treat adults with both substance use and mental health conditions. These include PTSD, eating disorders, self-harm, and trauma-related concerns. Treatment approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, relapse-prevention counseling, anger-management work, and trauma-informed therapy. Adults can participate in individual, group, and family or couples counseling. Gender-specific programming for adult men and women and services for justice-involved adults, including DUI/DWI programming, help tailor care to specific life situations.

Practical Support for Daily Living, Work, and Housing

Support extends beyond therapy sessions. Case management and community psychiatric rehabilitation services help adults navigate benefits, medical care, and social services. Life skills groups focus on practical tasks like communication, organization, and symptom management. Supported employment and supported housing services can assist adults in securing work and stable living arrangements. Peer support, mentoring, and self-help groups offer additional connections. Health education, smoking and tobacco-cessation counseling, naloxone and overdose-prevention education, and transportation assistance are built in to reduce common barriers to staying in care.

Access and Financial Assistance

Mark Twain Behavioral Health has a policy not to refuse certain crisis and recovery care because of inability to pay, and offers reduced-fee options, payment plans, and low-cost therapy with graduate-level interns. Staff can also help adults apply for Medicaid and explore financial assistance.
