What to expect
Developing your care plan
- First 72 hours: When clients arrive, they complete assessments and receive orientation to get familiar with the facility. They also attend groups, go over the schedule, and make necessary appointments.
- Personalized treatment: Care plans are individualized and clinician-led, developed with input from the client. These are adjusted as needed throughout the residential stay.
- Clinical approaches: Methods integrate evidence-based therapy, including CBT and DBT, trauma-informed care, 12-step work, and wellness activities.
“New residents are paired with a senior peer who helps them understand the program from the perspective of someone who’s been there.” — Dr. Jacob Christenson, Chief Executive Officer
Who you will meet with
- Counselors: Primary counselors guide clients through weekly one-on-one sessions. Clients can request additional sessions if needed.
- Group leaders: Lead multiple daily groups across a range of recovery topics.
- Psychiatrists and clinicians: Provide medication management and mental health support.
- Support staff: These include life coaches, wellness staff, and peer community members.
Typical schedule
- Mornings: Clients eat breakfast around 8:00 a.m. The first group session of the day starts at 9:00 a.m. and lasts for two hours.
- Daytime programming: Clients participate in three or four groups per day. These include a mix of process groups, education sessions, and relapse prevention work.
- Evenings: The last group session of the day is held between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Afterward, clients have free time and can use their personal electronic devices.
- Weekend visitation: Visitation hours occur on Saturdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. With prior counselor approval, loved ones may be able to bring family pets with them to visit clients.
“Our goal is to treat the whole person — not just get substances out of their body, but improve physical health and address the mental health issues that contribute to relapse.” — Dr. Jacob Christenson, Chief Executive Officer
Living experiences and amenities
- Comfortable setting: The residence is a renovated historic mansion with modern interiors. Clients stay in private or shared rooms with en-suite bathrooms.
- Shared spaces: Clients can enjoy a fireplace lounge, library, TV lounge, and recreation areas with a pool table, movies, and games.
- Wellness: A sauna, cold plunge, yoga studio, gym, and massage chairs are available for clients to use.
Aftercare
- Step-down options: Discharge planning begins during treatment. After residential care, staff can help clients move into partial hospitalization (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), or regular outpatient care.
- Ongoing support: Clients participate in relapse prevention planning, continued therapy, and support groups, and can stay in contact with counselors post-treatment.
- Alumni program: This program includes peer support, workshops, goal-setting sessions, and social gatherings.
