Guidance Care Center (GCC) delivers comprehensive behavioral health and substance use services for children, adults, and families throughout Monroe County. Located in Marathon, this nonprofit under WestCare provides crisis stabilization, detox, outpatient therapy, and medications for addiction treatment (MAT). Multilingual staff and a sliding fee scale make care accessible to everyone, with programs designed to meet individuals where they are in their recovery journey.

Around-the-Clock Crisis and Detox Services

GCC operates a 24-hour Crisis Stabilization Unit and medically supervised detox program for adults, offering psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and immediate stabilization. The facility’s Mobile Crisis Response Team serves all of Monroe County, helping reduce hospital visits and connecting people in distress to community-based resources. Same-day and walk-in admissions ensure timely support when it’s needed most.

Integrated Treatment and Family-Based Programs

Treatment combines evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing with medications for addiction treatment (MAT) for substance use recovery. Family-centered programs, including the Family Intensive Treatment Team and Community Action Team for youth, extend care into homes and schools. GCC counselors also provide school-based prevention and behavioral health services across the Keys, helping young people access support early.

Recovery Support Beyond Treatment

GCC’s approach extends beyond clinical care to address real-life needs that shape long-term recovery. Clients have access to case management, peer mentoring, and employment readiness support. The Personal Growth Center offers psychosocial rehabilitation and community reintegration for adults with mental illness, while The Heron provides assisted living for those in recovery. As Monroe County’s designated transportation coordinator, GCC helps residents access essential services—reflecting its mission to uplift the human spirit through accessible, compassionate care.
