Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adult women seeking a gender-specific recovery community; experiencing substance use that is related to trauma or other mental health challenges; looking for a program that emphasizes peer connection; wanting a heavy focus on 12-Step recovery; seeking clinical treatment integrated with wellness activities; wanting significant structure without institutional living; needing to start treatment quickly; pregnant women seeking treatment.
Not a fit if: Men; women seeking a luxury experience; looking for a non-12-Step treatment approach.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Initial evaluation: Clients undergo a physical and psychological health evaluation to guide treatment planning.
- A combination of approaches: After admission, clients meet with an assigned therapist who reviews the care plan and oversees the details. Care plans combine traditional treatment with holistic and wellness approaches, tailored to meet client needs.
- Admission and acclimation: The first week of the program is intentionally designed to be more relaxed to give clients time to adjust. Same-day admission may be available.
Who you will meet with
- Assigned therapist: Clients typically meet with their assigned therapist 1 to 2 days a week, with additional sessions as needed.
- Psychiatrist: A psychiatrist is on staff to support clients’ mental health needs.
- Therapy team: In addition to one-on-one sessions, clients also interact with other clinicians in psychoeducation and addiction classes and other clinical programming.
- Staff members with lived recovery experience: These staff members offer support and contribute to the peer-oriented feel of the program.
Typical schedule
- Mornings: After the initial acclimation period, clients typically wake up for breakfast around 6:15 a.m. and attend morning meditation and goal-setting sessions around 8 a.m. Therapist-led addiction and psychoeducation classes begin around 9:15 a.m., followed by group programming around 10:30 a.m.
- Afternoon: Group programming occupies most of the afternoon, with sessions taking place at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Late afternoon and evenings: Clients participate in a wrap-up group, where they review the daily goal, whether it was met, and, if not, what got in the way. Outside Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings are available some evenings, and clients can have downtime for free time and recreation.
Living experiences and amenities
- Home-like environment in a rural wooded setting: The campus offers wooded areas, greenery, and outdoor walking space along with comfortable furnishings and places for quiet reflection. Clients stay in cabin-style apartments, with both private and shared rooms. Clients have access to a stocked kitchen with health snacks, a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, plus living areas and fireplaces.
- Connection as part of treatment: Women receive treatment alongside other women, participating in small group programming. They also share a clubhouse that’s used for activities, 12-Step meetings, and fellowship.
- Recreation: Gym and fitness opportunities are available, including yoga and meditation, and chef-prepared meals are tailored to dietary needs.
Aftercare
- Supporting the transition back to everyday life: Discharge planning can include relapse-prevention strategies and referrals to outpatient services or sober living options.
- Maintaining connections: The facility offers alumni support as well as family therapy and other support to help with returning home.
