Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adult men seeking residential treatment for substance use; looking for a smaller recovery community; wanting a mix of evidence-based and trauma-focused therapy with holistic activities; needing support for co-occurring mental health concerns or unresolved trauma; seeking quick access to a program; comfortable with 12-Step programming; having chronic relapse histories.

  • Not a fit if: Women; men seeking treatment that is not centered on 12-Step programming; needing access to personal electronics during treatment.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Pre-admission: Before a client arrives, the care team considers their background, physical and mental health, substance use history, and personal challenges when planning care.
  • At admission: The medical team takes the client’s vitals and reviews their substance use, medical history, and withdrawal symptoms. Clients are then assigned a therapist, who develops and oversees the care plan with client input.
  • Ongoing adjustments: Clients advance through treatment according to their readiness, and ongoing assessments help guide the timeline. Clients set daily goals and revisit them at an end-of-the-day group, discussing whether or not goals were achieved, which can help guide treatment.

Who you will meet with

  • Assigned therapist: Clients work with an assigned therapist, attending individual sessions once or twice a week. Additional sessions may be available as needed.
  • Clinical team: The clinical team consists of four therapy clinicians who lead psychoeducation and addiction classes and other clinical groups that focus on topics such as goal-setting and accountability.
  • Psychiatrist: An on-staff psychiatrist offers support for clients with co-occurring mental health needs.
  • Case managers: Case managers support clients as they prepare for discharge, helping them meet practical needs and find other programs for life after residential treatment.

Typical schedule

  • Mornings: The first week is more relaxed so that new arrivals can adjust to their new routine. After settling in, clients wake up and have breakfast around 6:15 a.m. followed by meditation and a morning goal-setting meeting at 8 a.m. Therapist-led classes begin around 9:15 a.m., followed by group programming around 10:30 a.m.
  • Afternoons: Additional group programming sessions are at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., followed by a late afternoon or early evening wrap-up group. At this meeting, each client focuses on whether they met their goal and discusses the barriers that may have prevented them from doing so.
  • After programming: Yoga, physical activity, nutrition, and nature-based activities complement clinical work. Clients also attend outside Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings some evenings.

Living experiences and amenities

  • A wooded campus near the Old Natchez Trace: The facility sits on 10 acres with a pond, walking and hiking areas, and outdoor seating.
  • Cabin-style accommodations: Cabins each have a large front room and two single rooms, so clients either have a private living space or a single roommate. Typically, clients rotate into single rooms depending on how long they have been in the program. Living spaces include furnished living areas, cable TV, laundry facilities, and storage, along with fresh linens and towels. Personal electronics are not permitted.
  • Wellness and nutrition: Chef-prepared meals and snacks are provided, and kitchens are also available. A number of recreational activities are available, including fitness equipment and gym access, hiking or walking, outdoor activities, and other group recreation.

Aftercare

  • Ongoing planning: Clients work with case managers throughout treatment to prepare goals, improve skills, and establish support systems for the transition out of residential care. Case management includes support with employment and legal concerns, as well as establishing connections with community resources. Gender-specific sober living may also be available through trusted partners and sister facilities.
  • Alumni support: The program supports continuing alumni involvement, offering opportunities for fellowship and connection as ongoing sources of accountability.
