For nearly seven decades, Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center has provided essential substance use and mental health services to St. Clair County. The nonprofit offers outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and residential programs within an urban community setting. Each person begins with a comprehensive assessment and personalized plan that may include therapy, recovery education, and 24/7 crisis intervention.

Evidence-Based Treatment and MAT

The center is a certified Opioid Treatment Program offering medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. It also administers medications for alcohol use disorder such as acamprosate and disulfiram. Medication-assisted recovery is combined with behavioral therapies, counseling, and relapse prevention, emphasizing safety and continuity of care.

Residential Programs Promoting Independence

Residents can access three distinct housing programs designed to meet different levels of support. Supervised Living offers full-time clinical and nursing oversight. Supported Living helps residents strengthen independence through job search and education assistance. Transitional Living focuses on skill-building, employment, and community reintegration over 90 days. Each program includes case management and peer support to prepare clients for sustained wellness.

Whole-Person Supports and Inclusive Services

Treatment integrates evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed counseling, and 12-step facilitation. To reduce barriers, the center provides transportation, case management, housing and employment services, and health education including tobacco cessation. Specialized groups serve adolescents, veterans, pregnant or postpartum women, and older adults, with sign language access for hearing-impaired clients.
