Mental and physical health care

Care addresses substance use alongside co-occurring mental health needs. The appropriate level of care for each client is determined through in-depth assessments. These assessments also help identify physical health needs. Residential clients may have access to prescription and over-the-counter medications, nutrition education, as well as HIV and hepatitis C testing and prevention education. Treatment may include individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma counseling, and relapse prevention. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) may also be available when determined to be appropriate.

Employment preparation

Clients have access to employment support that includes resume building, interview workshops, basic computer training, financial literacy education, and help developing social skills that are relevant in the workplace. Supported employment groups and job-search assistance may also be available, in addition to transportation services for employment-related activities. Post-employment groups may help clients who have already begun working. It is recommended that residential clients bring a business outfit to treatment to support their job search.

Family involvement

Loved ones are also supported during a client’s recovery process through counseling services. A licensed family therapist is available for family members and others in the client’s support system. Families have the opportunity to learn about addiction, coping skills, and healthy boundaries, and activities and events provide additional opportunities for involvement during treatment.

Continuing care after residential treatment

Planning for the transition out of residential care begins during treatment. This includes goals for continued recovery and discharge planning. Outpatient options and recovery support can continue for as long as needed after completing formal residential care. Clients may also receive peer mentoring, self-help support, overdose education, and naloxone education.
