A Peaceful Setting for Reflection

Located on 500 acres of woodland in southern Indiana, the center offers a quiet, rural environment designed to promote healing. Clients can walk scenic trails, participate in outdoor meditation and mindfulness sessions, and engage in movement-based activities like yoga and light fitness. The campus also includes peaceful spots for journaling and conversation, as well as indoor spaces for art therapy, educational groups, and peer-led meetings. This balance of nature and structure gives clients the opportunity to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and develop healthy routines.

12-Step Program Emphasis

Structured12-Step programming is a core component of the residential treatment model. Clients participate in onsite group sessions that incorporate the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), including personal reflection, peer support, and sponsorship preparation. The program emphasizes spiritual growth and accountability within a supportive group setting. As part of aftercare planning, Wooded Glen helps clients connect with local 12-Step meetings and fellowship networks in their home communities.

A Trauma-Informed Program for Clients and their Families

The center provides trauma-informed care for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Services include evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). The program also includes a structured family component, offering education and support to loved ones through coordinated communication. By addressing trauma, emotional regulation, and relationship dynamics, the center helps clients and their families begin to heal together.

Specialized Care for Veterans and First Responders

The center’s Tactical Recovery program is tailored to meet the unique needs of veterans, active military, and first responders. Developed in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network and PsychArmor, this program offers trauma-informed, evidence-based treatments along with holistic activities such as mindfulness, yoga, and equine-assisted therapy. The program emphasizes structured daily routines, family involvement, and collaborative discharge planning with the VA or military command. Post-treatment support continues through the private Tactical Recovery Alumni app.

Strong Alumni Program for Continued Connection

A robust alumni program helps clients stay connected after residential treatment. Led by an alumni coordinator in recovery, the program includes weekly virtual meetings, monthly events, and opportunities for peer support. Alumni also have access to the CaredFor app, a private platform where they can track milestones, join wellness challenges, access recovery tools, and connect with others in recovery.

What Patients Say

The most common themes in patient reviews include deep gratitude for the trauma-centered care, strong emotional support from peers and staff, and a renewed sense of purpose. While not every experience is perfect, many say Wooded Glen helped them feel human again—and gave them the tools and connections to stay that way.
