Treatment for Pregnant And Postpartum Women
Programs are designed to welcome pregnant and postpartum women into treatment. The center offers gender-specific, trauma-informed care that addresses substance use, mental health, and the realities of pregnancy and early parenting. Pregnant and postpartum women can participate in structured groups, individual counseling, and life-skills training while receiving support around parenting stress, family systems, and safety.
Trauma-Informed Philosophy
Care is grounded in a trauma-informed model designed for women’s experiences. Counselors use approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-related counseling, anger management, relapse prevention, and 12-step facilitation. Programming is tailored for adult women, including those who have experienced trauma or live with co-occurring mental health challenges.
Integrated Mental Health and Medication Support
On-site mental health services and medications for mental health conditions help clients address symptoms that can complicate substance use recovery. The center can also support medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and provides naloxone and overdose education.
Daily Structure, Skills Building, and Wellness
From admission, clients complete comprehensive assessments of substance use, mental health, and medical history. Treatment includes individual, group, and family counseling, substance use education, and health education on topics such as HIV, hepatitis, and general wellness. Life-skills training and wellness activities give clients chances to practice emotional regulation, communication, and daily living skills they can carry home.
Supportive Environment and Practical Services
Residential spaces offer healthy meals with dietary accommodations, laundry facilities, outdoor patios, gardens, and walking paths provide places to relax between groups. Smoking and vaping are allowed in designated outdoor areas. Beyond treatment sessions, clients can access case management, housing services, transportation assistance, mentoring and peer support, self-help groups, and help connecting with social services and primary care.
Planning for Life After Residential Care
Staff offer aftercare and continuing-care recommendations, and outcome follow-up after discharge. Many clients step down to intensive outpatient programs, outpatient mental health therapy, or long-term supportive housing within the broader Wayside system. This focus on transitions is designed to support safer reentry into work, parenting, and community life while maintaining gains made in residential care.
