Residential Care for Teens in a Rural Setting
The program provides 45-day residential treatment for boys and girls ages 12–18 with a primary diagnosis of substance dependence. Clients live in a supervised, smoke-free, and vape-free environment. Indoor and outdoor recreation areas, courts, fields, and a weight room give young people outlets for movement and stress relief. Transportation assistance can help families get teens to care even when reliable travel is a challenge.
Group-Centered Treatment With a 12-Step Foundation
Rediscovery views chemical dependency as a chronic, progressive condition that affects the whole person. Treatment includes on-site 12-step work such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings. Counselors use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, anger management, trauma-related counseling, and substance use disorder counseling. The program offers medication management for mental health needs when needed.
Education, Skills Building, and Community Involvement
School and academic support are part of each weekday, so teens can keep working toward their education while in care. Vocational training, life skills work, and social skills development help clients prepare to return to school, work, or home with more confidence. On-campus fitness and recreation are complemented by supervised volunteer work and outings in the community. These activities reinforce responsibility, teamwork, and healthy ways to spend time without substances.
Support for Co-Occurring Needs and Trauma
The program serves adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, including youth who have experienced trauma, sexual abuse, or domestic violence, as well as clients with involvement with the justice system. Suicide prevention services, integrated primary care and mental health services, and assistance with obtaining social services further support whole-person treatment.
Planning for Life After Treatment
Discharge planning starts early and connects each youth with aftercare counseling, school contacts, mentors, AA or NA meetings, and supportive peers and activities. Before a client leaves, the team reviews a continued care plan with the youth, caregivers, and referral sources so everyone understands the next steps.
