Transitional Living for Women in Recovery
Cynthia House provides a safe, home-like setting for women in early recovery from substance use disorders. Located in Sioux City, this transitional living program bridges the gap between structured treatment and independent living. With support from trained staff and peers, residents learn to build daily routines, strengthen coping skills, and create a foundation for sustained wellness.
Integrated and Evidence-Based Care
The program uses evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and, when appropriate, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Treatment plans address both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Cynthia House also supports the use of medications for addiction treatment, including buprenorphine and naltrexone, as part of an integrated care approach that promotes long-term recovery.
Building Skills and Community Connection
Residents take part in individual and group therapy, 12-Step support meetings, and life-skills training that encourages personal accountability and independence. As they grow in recovery, participants are guided to pursue work, education, or volunteer opportunities in the community. These steps help women rebuild confidence, reconnect socially, and strengthen their sense of purpose.
Continuing Support Through Rosecrance
As part of the not-for-profit Rosecrance network, Cynthia House emphasizes long-term stability through aftercare planning, relapse-prevention education, and peer and community connections. This continuum of care helps women maintain progress after treatment and continue building a balanced, independent life grounded in recovery.
