Culturally Rooted Healing in an Urban Setting

Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition’s Intertribal Treatment Center blends Native traditions with evidence-based care in Omaha. The program is designed to support Native Americans and other underserved community members, offering a pathway to recovery that emphasizes cultural identity, whole-person healing, and connection.

Residential and Outpatient Care Options

Treatment includes a co-ed residential program that integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed counseling, and twelve-step facilitation with cultural wellness practices. Outpatient services provide flexibility with assessments, individual and group therapy, family counseling, and telehealth. A transitional living program helps residents build stability while preparing for independent living.

Medications and Integrated Health Services

The center offers medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone, paired with counseling and relapse prevention planning. Integrated health services include screenings for HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis, vaccination programs, and primary care support. Overdose education and naloxone training help clients and families reduce risks in early recovery.

Support Beyond Treatment

Services extend beyond clinical care to address real-world needs. Case management, peer mentoring, and self-help groups provide social support, while vocational counseling and educational assistance help clients rebuild financial independence. Specialized programming supports women, veterans, older adults, and those living with co-occurring conditions or trauma. Transitional living ensures a safe and structured step between treatment and community reintegration.
