Flexible, Goal-Based Care Since 1969

For more than five decades, The Haven Residential has provided adults in Salt Lake City with accessible treatment. Residents work with clinicians to set personal goals and step down in care when ready, through personalized treatment plans. Alongside therapy and case management, the program includes life-skills training, vocational support, recreation, and volunteer opportunities to prepare participants for stability after treatment.

Trauma-Informed and Evidence-Based Approaches

Treatment is rooted in evidence-based therapies and supported by peer involvement. Options include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and 12-step facilitation. Specialized trauma programming features the Sanctuary Model, Breaking the Chains of Trauma, and Seeking Safety, complemented by shame resilience work and mindfulness practices like yoga, guided meditation, and Qi-Gong. Peer-led groups and team-building activities help residents apply recovery tools in daily life.

Gender-Specific Programming for Men and Women

The Haven offers gender-specific programming that recognizes the unique needs of men and women. Men’s groups create space to address stigma, vulnerability, and topics like sexual trauma, while using practical, skills-based approaches to build accountability and trust. Women’s programming focuses on trauma, relationship healing, and the unique challenges of mothers and women in crisis, providing a safe, supportive environment to strengthen resilience and family connections. Both tracks ensure care is tailored and inclusive.

Supports That Extend Beyond Treatment

The Haven’s approach goes beyond addressing substance use alone. Residents have access to housing assistance, employment counseling, parenting support, and weekly family seminars to help rebuild relationships. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone, can be incorporated into care, with support also available for individuals already prescribed elsewhere. After discharge, the Haven Alumni Association offers ongoing mentoring, events, and community connections that reinforce recovery well into the future.
