Foundations Minnesota – Minneapolis
Overview
Specialized outpatient LGBTQIA2+ addiction and mental health treatment helps adults recover in an identity-affirming environment designed around the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals. The PRIDE Program offers intensive care in person, online, and through hybrid options including medications for addiction treatment (MAT). This helps clients balance recovery with work, school, and family duties. Treatment supports substance use and related mental health challenges. It uses evidence-based therapies, psychiatric support, medication management, and peer connections. This facility accepts private insurance, Minnesota Medicaid, TRICARE, ITU funds, state-funded insurance plans, and self-pay options.

What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Assessment: Treatment starts with an initial assessment to evaluate substance use, mental health needs, recovery goals, and readiness to participate in the program. Recommendations are based on individual need.
- Collaborative treatment planning: Clients actively participate in the development of their treatment plan and are viewed as members of the care team. This is supported by the program's person-first philosophy.
- Length of program: Treatment length varies depending on the client but typically lasts between 12 and 20 weeks with a focus on flexibility and individualized care.
Who you will meet with
- Master’s-level clinicians: Work with clients throughout treatment through individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy. Recovery focused group therapy focuses on development of coping skills, relapse prevention, substance use education, and mental health.
- Psychiatric providers: The organization has contracts with psychiatrists to support evaluations and medication management.
- Case management and support services: Staff help clients connect with social services and community resources in addition to case management. Peer mentoring is also available as a part of the program.
Typical schedule
- Core treatment schedule: The main group program takes place Monday through Friday from about 5-8:30 p.m. with additional programs available from 3-5 p.m. in the event additional support is needed. These include process groups, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention.
- Evidence-based therapies: Approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and 12-Step facilitation are in place to help clients navigate their recovery.
- Holistic and experiential programming: Spiritual education, art therapy, and music therapy are used with meditation and mindfulness practices to support individual emotional well being, stress-management, and self-expression.
Aftercare
- Continuing care: Aftercare planning starts during treatment and may include continuing care recommendations and follow-up from staff to confirm outcomes and support longer-term recovery goals.
- Alumni community: The facility offers an alumni program which gives clients access to meetings, events, outings, celebrations, and other recovery-centric activities.
- Recovery support resources: Peer support, mentoring services as well as access to social services and community resources connect clients with self-help and building support systems that extend beyond treatment.
Pre-Admissions Experience
We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on June 3, 2026 to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.
When we contacted Foundations Minnesota, the admissions representative was immediately available and provided detailed information about programming, scheduling, treatment requirements, and costs. The conversation felt welcoming and informative and not sales-oriented, with clear explanations about treatment options, hybrid participation, and the facility's person-first approach to care.
