Residential Care for Men in Cedar Rapids

The Recovery Center offers 24-hour residential treatment for men ages 24 and older in a safe, structured environment. Length of stay is guided by each resident’s needs and progress, with daily programming that combines therapy and skill-building. Group sessions on stress management, decision-making, and communication help residents prepare for life beyond treatment.

Evidence-Based and Medication-Supported Approaches

Residents receive care rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-focused counseling. Telehealth and 12-step facilitation add flexibility, while medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone, are supported when prescribed externally. The program also welcomes clients using medications for alcohol use disorder, ensuring continuity of care during residential treatment.

Inclusive Support for Complex Needs

The Recovery Center addresses co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma, and chronic pain alongside substance use. Specialized groups are available for veterans, older adults, young adults, and people with justice involvement or HIV/AIDS. Additional services include HIV and hepatitis C testing, smoking cessation counseling, and domestic violence support, reflecting a commitment to whole-person recovery.

Preparing for Life After Treatment

Recovery continues beyond residential care with aftercare planning, peer mentoring, and recovery coaching. Residents can access transitional housing, employment counseling, and social services, supporting stability in the community. As part of ASAC, a nonprofit serving Eastern Iowa since 1978, the Recovery Center is grounded in a mission to promote recovery and community well-being through practical, compassionate support. All ASAC facilities are tobacco- and nicotine-free, reinforcing a health-focused environment.
