Alpas Wellness Virginia Drug & Alcohol Rehab
Overview

Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who need structure for substance use and/or co-occurring mental health concerns that also may benefit from independence outside of treatment hours; prefer to work through PHP and continued outpatient treatment as opposed to ending structured care abruptly; interested in evidence-based approaches; are able to benefit from case management, job-search preparation, and reintegration support; and adult men who may need access to supportive housing while attending PHP.
Not a fit if: Adults who require 24/7 residential supervision during treatment; want a highly restrictive environment with limited independence; adult women in need of supportive housing; and individuals who are looking for a treatment program that takes place seven days per week.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Assessment and placement: Prior to arrival, intake staff collect demographic information and relevant medical history. A clinician evaluates the client's current medical needs through a clinical assessment. These findings help the care team determine the appropriate level and duration of care. Relevant medical information is shared with the on-site treatment team so care begins promptly.
- Treatment planning: Aftercare and long-term recovery goals are established on the first day of care. As the client progresses, the plan is reassessed to meet the client's changing needs as they move through partial hospitalization and outpatient care. This continued planning helps prepare for step-down care and reintegration into the community.
Who you will meet with
- Therapists and clinicians: Clients may work with a clinician prior to treatment who determines their medical status, placement, and treatment needs. Therapists and counselors lead structured group and individual sessions during treatment.
- Case management: Case managers may be available to help clients prepare for decreasing levels of care and more independence. Support may also include coordinating step-down plans, preparing for employment searches, and helping with practical needs related to returning to community life.
Typical schedule
- Weekday schedule: The PHP takes place from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The schedule includes individual and structured group therapy sessions. Clients have the ability to go home or to supportive housing when treatment is not taking place. Transportation from the men's supportive housing may be available for treatment and appointments.
- Therapy approaches: Care may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, contingency management, motivational enhancement therapy, experiential therapy, relapse prevention, and 12-Step programming.
Living experiences and amenities
- Supportive housing for men: Supportive housing for men takes place in a new residence with shared bedrooms with one roommate, shared bathrooms, in-room televisions, and a fully stocked kitchen. Communal spaces and amenities include a game room, library, exercise equipment, and an outdoor fire pit. Clients in supportive housing also have access to an LA Fitness membership.
Aftercare
- Step-down care and aftercare: As treatment becomes less intensive, case managers help with stepping down in care and transitioning into employment, community involvement, and a more independent lifestyle. Most clients spend 30 to 90 days completing the range of care and an aftercare group. Aftercare may also include online follow-up sessions and an aftercare app.
