Trauma-Informed, Dual Diagnosis Care
Acqua Recovery specializes in treating trauma and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Treatment includes trauma work around powerful therapies. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps clients reprocess painful memories using guided eye movements. Narrative therapy is centered around exploring and rewriting personal stories that shape beliefs. Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) targets irrational thought patterns and enforces healthier perspectives. Internal Family Systems and Inner Child Work help clients reconnect with and heal vulnerable parts of themselves, especially those shaped by early trauma.
Holistic, Expressive Therapies
Along with research-based treatment, the center integrates creative and physical therapies that help clients engage mind and body in recovery. Psychodrama allows clients to act out past experiences in a safe, therapeutic space. Art and music therapy provide nonverbal outlets for processing emotion. Indoor surfing and CrossFit build physical strength and confidence. Breathwork and yoga help support nervous system regulation and stress relief. Each method is designed to encourage emotional release, build resilience, and reconnect individuals with themselves.
Veterans Rehabilitation Program
The Veterans Program is designed around the unique challenges of military service, offering a safe, structured environment where veterans connect with peers who understand their experiences. Treatment addresses combat trauma, moral injury, and the transition to civilian life through a blend of evidence-based care and outdoor activities in order to rebuild trust, routine, and emotional regulation. Veterans participate in group sessions to work through trauma in a supportive, nonjudgmental setting that honors their service and supports long-term reintegration.
Specialized Treatment for Working Professionals
A Professionals Program is available for executives and career-focused clients. The program addresses addictive stress loops, replaces chaotic routines with structured recovery days, and helps clients build resilience while maintaining professional identity. Clients engage in peer groups with others facing similar pressures. Emphasis is placed on balancing work and wellness, understanding employer expectations, and equipping clients to return to their roles confidently substance-free.
What Clients Say
Acqua Recovery earns consistent praise for its compassionate, experienced staff. Alumni describe the facility as transformative, citing breakthroughs in trauma recovery and long-term stability. While some noted concerns around program structure or specific housing policies, many emphasized feeling deeply seen and supported throughout their stay. EMDR therapy, family involvement, and access to medication — including through genetic testing — stood out as particularly meaningful elements of care.
