Rapid Support After Setbacks

The program provides short-term residential care for men who have completed treatment but need help maintaining recovery. Relapse can feel discouraging, so this program focuses on restoring stability as quickly as possible so clients can regain confidence and move forward. With 24-hour residential support in a structured environment, men receive both clinical care and peer connection at a critical moment. The goal is not just immediate stabilization but helping participants leave with new strategies, a stronger recovery plan, and a renewed sense of hope.

Evidence-Based Care With MAT Options

Treatment is grounded in therapies shown to work for substance use and mental health conditions. Clients may take part in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma counseling, and 12-step meetings, among other approaches. These sessions focus on practical skills for managing cravings, stress, and difficult emotions. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) are available when needed. For those already receiving MAT through another prescriber, the program supports ongoing coordination. This ensures that medical care continues without disruption.

Integrated Medical and Mental Health Services

Because substance use often overlaps with physical or mental health concerns, Haymarket integrates primary care and behavioral health into its recovery services. Clients receive a full medical evaluation, mental health and substance use screenings, and testing for conditions such as HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted infections. Vaccinations for hepatitis A and B are also available. Nicotine-replacement therapy and counseling to help clients quit smoking are offered as part of the program. Treatment for gambling addiction is also available.

Practical Support and Accessibility

Cost, transportation, and language can prevent many people from accessing care. This program offers a sliding fee scale and has a policy that men without financial resources are not turned away even if they cannot pay. Health navigators can help clients explore benefits like health coverage or social services. Transportation assistance is offered to help clients get to appointments, and interpretation services are available in Spanish, Polish, and American Sign Language.

Recovery Coaching and Life Skills

The center’s recovery coaching program extends support for up to a year after treatment. Clients receive regular check-ins that taper off as they gain stability, offering a safety net during the vulnerable early months after discharge. In addition, men can participate in vocational training and employment counseling. Staff can also help with services such as finding housing, re-entering the workforce, or strengthening social connections. This helps clients transition back into everyday life.
