Flexible scheduling for everyday life

To support clients balancing recovery with daily responsibilities, the program offers IOP in the morning from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and in the evening from 6 -9 p.m. Clients attend sessions four days per week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for a total of 12 hours each week. The program typically lasts from 6-8 weeks for a total of 32 sessions. The facility is accessible by bus and is near local supportive housing.

Recovery planning begins on day one

The IOP supports clients continuing their care after residential treatment or partial hospitalization (PHP), as well as individuals whose needs can be safely met without inpatient treatment. Continuity of care is prioritized, with discharge planning beginning on the first day and clients leaving the program with an in-depth continuing care plan. This approach helps prepare clients for long-term recovery.

A structured clinical approach to recovery

Treatment combines the 12-Step recovery model with the Matrix IOP Model. Core programming focuses on coping skills, stress management, and relapse prevention. Each client's substance use history guides their treatment, and care is delivered by licensed clinical addiction specialists and certified substance abuse counselors who are trained in the Matrix model.

Ongoing support during and after treatment

Weekly aftercare groups are available after clients have completed IOP treatment. A women's-specific therapy group is also available to provide additional support for female clients. Family counseling and peer-based recovery support are also offered. These services provide opportunities to connect in ways that support individual recovery.

Community-based care with long-term support

The program has offered community-based outpatient treatment in Wilmington, NC, for more than 20 years. In addition to treating substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions, clients can access case management, employment counseling, peer support, and connection to community resources.
