Eight-Week Residential Curriculum With 24/7 Support

Residential treatment is built around an eight-week curriculum, with the actual length of stay adjusted based on each client’s needs and funding. Weekly themes move from the medical model of addiction and coping with feelings to relapse prevention, reducing barriers, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Throughout the stay, clients participate in daily groups, individual counseling, and skills development, and have regular access to counselors who are on-site seven days a week.

Evidence-Based Care, Trauma-Informed Therapy, And MAT

The center combines 12-step work with evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), EMDR, motivational interviewing, anger management, and relapse prevention. Trauma-informed care is woven into the program, with specific services for clients who have experienced trauma or sexual abuse and for those with co-occurring mental health disorders. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) support withdrawal management and ongoing recovery, and medications for mental health conditions can also be prescribed as needed.

Family Programs, Wellness, And Experiential Activities

Family involvement is a core part of residential care. Families are invited to two-day programs several times during a client’s eight-week stay, can participate in educational and therapy sessions, and may visit on Sundays after an initial adjustment period. A health educator helps clients build individualized wellness and nutrition plans. Daily life includes mindfulness and movement practices such as yoga and low-impact exercise, team-building games, ropes course work, therapeutic outings in Idaho’s outdoors, and trips to a local fitness center.

Step-Down Support, Housing, And Community Connections

The Walker Center offers additional outpatient programming available in Twin Falls. After residential care, clients can access the Walking Sober House or other transitional housing options and receive help with job searches and connections to local employers. Recovery support services include case management, housing services, assistance with social services, mentoring and peer support, recovery coaching, and alumni programming, all aimed at building stable housing, income, and community ties.
