Women-Centered Residential Treatment

The Gathering Place provides long-term residential care for adult and young adult women, including pregnant and postpartum clients, who are working to overcome substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Residents participate in more than 30 hours of structured programming each week, including group therapy, trauma recovery sessions, and individual counseling. The setting offers a home-like environment with shared community spaces, nutritious meals, and privacy that fosters comfort and stability throughout recovery.

Faith-Based, Compassionate Community

As part of Volunteers of America Northern Rockies, the program reflects a faith-based approach centered on compassion, service, and dignity. Clients join a supportive community that promotes emotional and spiritual healing through connection and shared purpose. Those interested in spiritual growth can take part in optional ministry activities such as chapel services, faith coaching, and Bible studies, allowing for recovery that addresses the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based Therapies

Treatment combines multiple evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, and 12-step facilitation. Specialized methods such as Seeking Safety and Corrective Thinking (True Thought) address trauma, resilience, and relapse prevention. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT), such as buprenorphine and naltrexone, are available through outside prescribers as part of coordinated care. These therapies help clients develop coping strategies, self-awareness, and confidence in recovery.

Building Skills and Sustaining Recovery

Programming emphasizes life skills, education, and community reintegration. Residents receive vocational training, GED preparation, and support in developing parenting and social skills. Activities mirror home and community living, with daily chores, shared meals, and weekly meetings, to prepare clients for independence. Upon discharge, each woman leaves with a personalized aftercare plan, connecting her to peer recovery coaches, housing assistance, and local support services to maintain long-term stability and growth.
