Age-Specific Programming for Teens and Young Adults

Sandstone Care in Buffalo Grove specializes in treating adolescents ages 13–17 and young adults ages 18–30. Programs are tailored to the realities of each life stage, addressing challenges like school pressures, social transitions, or early career stress. Evidence-based care includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), paired with holistic approaches like mindfulness, art, and music therapy. Small group sizes foster peer connection and individualized support.

Flexible Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Care

The center provides structured outpatient options without requiring a residential stay. Day treatment runs five hours a day, five days a week for about four weeks, while the intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers around 12 hours of therapy across three to four days weekly, usually over 12 weeks. These flexible schedules allow clients to continue school or work while in treatment. Transportation assistance is available to help remove barriers to consistent care.

Academic, Vocational, and Family Support

Beyond therapy sessions, Sandstone Care integrates academic and vocational support to help clients keep up with coursework, explore career paths, and build confidence. Families are involved through weekly multi-family groups and biweekly family therapy, strengthening communication and understanding. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and psychiatric support are available when appropriate. Treatment also includes trauma-informed counseling, relapse prevention strategies, motivational interviewing, and telehealth services to expand access.
