Men-Only Residential Treatment in a Rural Setting

Sanctuary Louisiana is a private substance use treatment program for adult men based on a rural campus. The residential program is a clinically managed, high-intensity level of care delivered in a structured environment. Housing is primarily dorm-style, with an emphasis on shared routines, accountability, and peer support. The setting includes natural outdoor space — wooded areas, on-site hiking trails, and shaded gathering spots near ponds and pavilions — often used for reflection and group activities.

Step-Down Continuum of Care

Programs include residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and standard outpatient services, which can support people as they move between levels of structure. The IOP is scheduled three evenings per week for a minimum of three hours, which may allow clients to maintain employment while continuing therapy, education, and relapse-prevention work. Sanctuary Louisiana also offers transitional sober living houses with on-site supervision and a house structure designed to support accountability.

12-Step, Counseling, Education, and Skills Practice

Treatment includes 12-step work, as well as a mix of individual, group, and family counseling. The residential program features comprehensive assessment and screening, life skills training, and education as core components. Approaches involve cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, anger management, trauma-related counseling, skills training, and relapse prevention. Naloxone overdose education is provided.

Recovery Support and Practical Services

Sanctuary Louisiana offers services that can make staying engaged in care more realistic for people balancing recovery with responsibilities. Transportation assistance is offered for approved needs such as court appearances, work obligations, and medical appointments. Ongoing recovery supports include peer mentoring, self-help groups, employment counseling or training, housing services, and discharge planning with continuing care.

Telehealth, Integrated Primary Care, and Medications For Addiction Treatment

The center offers telemedicine/telehealth therapy as part of its counseling services. Integrated primary care services are also available alongside on-site mental health services and medication management for mental health needs. For medications for addiction treatment (MAT), the program can support medication-based care through an in-network prescriber or a contracted prescribing partner, and accepts clients who arrive on MAT that is prescribed elsewhere.
