Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who are interested in a small residential environment; value privacy and personal space; want substantial access to their primary therapist; desire experiential and nature-based treatment; and are comfortable with an active treatment experience that may include surfing, snorkeling, and time outdoors.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who do not want outdoor, water-based, or experiential activities to play a meaningful role in treatment; and are seeking a large treatment community.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial assessments and evaluations: Upon admission, clients undergo a series of assessments and evaluations to identify their care needs. This process helps the clinical team gain a clearer understanding of what may need to be addressed during treatment.
  • Personalized care planning: The treatment team uses findings from the initial assessments and evaluations to develop a personalized care plan. This plan is intended to ensure that treatment addresses each client’s specific needs and goals.

Who you will meet with

  • Primary therapist support: Clients are supported by master’s-level therapists and licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) who are trained in multiple therapeutic approaches. Each client has the opportunity to meet with their primary therapist at least three times per week.
  • Therapist-led outings: Therapists lead three experiential outings each week, allowing therapeutic support to continue outside of traditional sessions. Beach yoga is also supported by the client’s primary therapist.

Typical schedule

  • Evidence-based and somatic therapies: Care may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). Clients may also take part in somatic approaches, mindfulness, and breathwork to help them develop skills related to emotional regulation and nervous system responses. The facility also has a recovery group that focuses on developing an understanding of behavioral change, addiction neuroscience, and nervous system regulation.
  • Experiential therapies: Experiential programming may include surf therapy, equine therapy, hiking, outdoor challenges, beach walks, gardening, and wilderness exploration. The facility also offers the Hero’s Journey approach, which focuses on helping clients use their life experiences and challenges to identify their personal strengths. Yoga, massage therapy, and occasional art therapy may also be available.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Small residential setting: The comfort-focused residential program can accommodate up to 10 clients, with each client having a private room. The property includes gardens, walking paths, a pool, and spa facilities. Nutritious meals are prepared by an island caterer.
  • Sunday visitation: Clients can receive visitors once per week on Sundays, allowing them to regularly connect with loved ones during residential care.

Aftercare

  • Aftercare support: Aftercare may include continued communication, support groups, medication management, and employment or educational support.

Pre-admissions experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on August 19, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we contacted Maui Recovery, the admissions representative answered promptly and provided a friendly, low-pressure experience. They shared clear information about costs, availability, visitation, and the weekly treatment schedule, though some answers were brief.
