Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults in early recovery looking for a structured residential program; need withdrawal management with medical support and supervision; want trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies; have private insurance or can self pay.

  • Not a fit if: Unwilling to live on campus in a 24-hour structured setting; need outpatient-only or self-directed care; looking for luxury or resort-like accommodations; rely on Medicaid for coverage.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial evaluation: At the start of treatment, clients complete a clinical and medical evaluation, which helps staff determine the appropriate level of care.
  • Withdrawal management: When needed, clients begin treatment with 24/7 medically supervised withdrawal management (detox). This stage lasts for seven days.
  • Treatment approaches: During their stay, clients participate in evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy, 12-step work, and skill-building.

Who you will meet with

  • Addiction counselors: Oversee client treatment plans.
  • Doctors and nurses: In charge of withdrawal management and medical care throughout the program.
  • Therapists: Facilitate therapy sessions using evidence-based methods including CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
  • Recovery support staff: Lead education workshops and peer group sessions.

Typical schedule

  • Regular programming: Clients participate in individual, group, and family therapy, workshops, and peer support meetings.
  • Structured meal times: Clients have breakfast around 7:00 a.m., lunch around 12:00 p.m., and dinner around 5:00 p.m.
  • Expressive therapies and outings: Activities can include music therapy and recovery-focused sober outings such as bowling and going to the movies.
  • Family time: On weekends, families can attend therapy and education sessions, as well as visit with their loved ones once clients complete withdrawal management.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Accommodations and meals: Clients stay in private or shared rooms and are served nutritious meals by an in-house chef.
  • Living arrangement: The facility is co-ed, so clients of all genders participate in programming together.
  • Outdoor spaces: Outside of programming hours, clients can enjoy a landscaped courtyard with a gazebo, walking paths, and benches.

Aftercare

  • Step-down care: Once completing the residential program, clients can move into PHP, where they can attend programming during the day while living at home or in sober housing.
  • Peer support: Clients are encouraged to attend local 12-step meetings, and can participate in an alumni program, recovery coaching, and community recovery events.

Verified Admissions Experience

Anonymous admissions inquiry conducted via phone on March 10, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience. When we reached the Great Plains Recovery Center, the admissions team was responsive and friendly. They walked us through the types of therapy offered, client activities, and treatment costs. The conversation felt comfortable, though the phone representative was not a clinician and unable to answer the clinically focused questions.
