Wellness Resource Center
Overview
Two–phase day treatment and intensive outpatient substance use and mental health care with apartment-style community housing. Specialized treatment plans are available for young adults and LGBTQIA+ individuals. In the first phase of treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), clients attend all-day programming. Afterward, they can step down to the second phase, intensive outpatient (IOP), and attend shorter evening sessions. Care plans include 12-step meetings and individual, group, and family therapy. Evidence-based methods are combined with experiential and holistic approaches. Wellness Resource Center accepts private insurance and self-pay.

Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who need structured outpatient treatment while staying in sober community housing; want step-down care in one location; young adults and LGBTQIA+ individuals looking for specialized programming; willing to participate in 12-step meetings and group therapy; have private insurance or can self-pay.
Not a fit if: Those who need acute, hospital-level care or medical detox; require a 24/7 residential environment; want a non-12-step approach; prefer self-directed treatment; have Medicaid, or are uninsured and unable to self pay.
What to expect
Typical schedule
- Phase 1: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Clients receive treatment seven days per week: Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. When not in treatment, they can stay in nearby community housing.
- Phase 2: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Clients can continue to live in community housing while attending IOP, or they may choose to live at home. Evening IOP sessions run Monday to Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Evidence-based therapy and 12-step: Therapists employ proven techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), relapse prevention, and trauma counseling. Clients also regularly attend 12-step meetings.
- Holistic approaches: Clients can participate in mindfulness, yoga, art therapy, nutritional therapy, equine therapy, and various experiential therapy groups.
Living experiences and amenities
- Community housing: While in treatment, clients stay in sober apartments in a nearby residential neighborhood not far from the beach. Accommodations include a heated swimming pool, a recreation room, and lounge areas.
- Daily responsibilities: As clients stay in community housing rather than in a 24/7 residential facility, they have more freedom. Outside of sessions, clients can work if their job does not interfere with treatment. Staff take clients grocery shopping twice a week; clients must purchase their own food, as meals are not provided.
- Weekend outings: Clients can participate in group outings such as trips to the beach or bowling, as well as other fun activities around the community.
- Support for families: When desired, family therapy sessions are available. This can occur through telehealth when needed. Wellness Resource Center also organizes family weekends.
Developing your care plan
- Personalization: Treatment is adapted to each client’s unique needs, including their goals and challenges, priorities, and the outcomes they desire.
- Client collaboration: Clients are actively involved in the creation of their treatment plans. Therapists work with them to shape these plans and provide guidance along the way.
Who you will meet with
- Therapists and counselors: Primary therapists meet with clients for one-on-one sessions. Therapists and counselors also lead group sessions throughout the day.
- Doctors and nurses: Attend to clients’ health needs throughout treatment.
- Psychiatrists: Provide care for clients who have co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Case managers: Help with practical needs such as finding long-term housing and employment counseling, as well as navigating social services when needed.
Aftercare
- Step-down care: As their needs progress, clients can step down from PHP to IOP, gradually increasing their independence.
- Discharge planning: Before clients leave treatment, staff can help them set up continuing care plans. This can include connections with peer support groups and local 12-step meetings.
