Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who are navigating co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns; benefit from structured daily schedules with multiple therapy groups; prefer a socially active and peer-oriented treatment environment; are interested in recreational recovery activities and outdoor programming; are veterans, active-duty military members, or military families; or are seeking a full range of care.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who are seeking highly private or luxury accommodations; prefer a quiet, secluded, or retreat-style environment; want extensive one-on-one therapy throughout the week instead of group-focused programming; or need highly flexible schedules and large amounts of unstructured downtime.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Admissions and initial evaluation: During admissions, clients meet with medical and therapeutic teams to do an evaluation of substance use and mental health as well as to address any medical concerns. They are assigned a primary therapist. Through this process individual treatment goals are developed.
  • Therapist matching and ongoing treatment planning: Individuals are paired with therapists specializing in the most pressing concern of the client. Care plans evolve throughout treatment upon reassessment with clinical and medical teams. This may include step-down levels of care such as PHP and IOP.

Who you will meet with

  • Medical and psychiatric providers: A team of medical providers work with the client to assess physical needs, withdrawal concerns, and support for co-occurring conditions. Psychiatric support is available to address mental health needs. Medication management takes place throughout care. Nursing support is provided during detox and early stabilization.
  • Therapists and support: Weekly individual therapy sessions support clients throughout treatment in addition to group therapy that focuses on coping skills, relapse prevention, emotional processing, and trauma informed recovery.

Typical schedule

  • Morning and afternoon therapy schedule: The daily schedule begins around 7:45 a.m. with morning goals and process groups. These are smaller therapist-led groups with approximately 8-10 individuals. Additional therapy groups take place throughout the afternoon and focus on emotional processing, coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation.
  • Mental health and recreational recovery: During treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and trauma, clients receive evidence-based therapies and have access to recreation and community activities that are incorporated into the structured daily recovery routines.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Residential environment and campus setting: The facility offers dorm-style housing and cottages on the Santa Rosa Sound with beach access. A shared living environment is intended to encourage peer connection with two residents per room.
  • Recreation and family involvement: Recreation is integrated into treatment through fitness, outdoor activities, and structured engagement. Amenities and activities may include a gym, kayaking, yoga, beach walks, sports and a ropes course. Family therapy is also available and visitation is permitted through therapist approval.

Aftercare

  • Step-down levels of care: The continuum of care includes detox, residential treatment, PHP, and outpatient programming. Clients in PHP may continue living onsite while receiving about six hours of treatment a day. Outpatient clients do not continue living onsite.
  • Alumni and continuing support: Weekly alumni groups and events are available after treatment. The facility also supports lifelong aftercare and referrals for continuing care are coordinated through alumni staff.

Pre-Admissions Experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on May 4, 2026 to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we reached out to the admissions team at Twelve Oaks Recovery, they were professional, knowledgeable, and supportive. The representatives shared clear details about the program's structure, therapies, daily schedule, living arrangements, and pricing. They were patient and easy to talk to during the whole conversation. One admissions representative even suggested a different facility for a caller as this option might have been a better fit for their needs. It made the interaction feel open and focused on proper care, not just filling a bed.
