A Soothing Environment for Focused Recovery
The center’s peaceful, rural location offers more than just a quiet place to heal. Clients can go fishing by the bayou, play basketball and volleyball, and join twice-weekly yoga classes. An onsite pecan orchard offers a tranquil space for reflection. Counselors organize special events such as talent shows and provide a range of engaging activities throughout clients’ stay. Music and art therapy add creative outlets for emotional expression, helping clients connect with themselves and others in meaningful ways.
Specialized Treatment Tracks
Recovery tracks are adapted to meet client needs wherever they are on their recovery path. The Gambling Recovery Track addresses compulsive gambling through focused group therapy and trauma-informed care. First-Time in Treatment clients receive added support and orientation to ease the transition into residential care. The Intensive Relapse Prevention Track helps returning clients identify triggers, strengthen coping skills, and build practical relapse prevention plans.
Family Involvement and Visitation
Family participation is encouraged as a key part of the healing process. Sessions are available for clients’ loved ones, offering a chance to address relationship dynamics, improve communication, and support long-term recovery goals. Visitation connected to these sessions is permitted during a designated four-hour window on Sundays, giving families the opportunity to reconnect in a structured, supportive environment.
12-step Integration and Peer Support
The program offers gender-inclusive residential care and emphasis on peer connection. Clients take part in 12-step meetings, spiritual support services, and therapeutic groups led by experienced counselors. The rural setting fosters a close-knit community where clients support one another through the recovery process, creating a sense of belonging that can be vital for healing and growth.
What Patients Are Saying
Many past clients speak highly of Edgefield’s compassionate nursing and counseling staff, and the quiet, natural environment that helped them reset. Reviews frequently mention the peaceful atmosphere, facility cleanliness, and the supportive relationships formed with peers. Some note drawbacks like shared rooms and limited outings, but overall, the facility is praised for creating a stable and grounding space for recovery.
