Overview
Luxury detox and residential substance use care in a discreet island setting with bilingual staff and a dedicated veterans’ program. The Haven Detox provides 24/7 medical support as well as treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions and trauma. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) can be prescribed for safety and to make the withdrawal management (detox) process as comfortable as possible. Evidence-based therapies are combined with yoga, tai chi, and experiential approaches. Same-day admissions are often possible, and staff can pick up clients and bring them to the center from anywhere in Puerto Rico. This facility accepts private insurance and self-pay.

Private Healing Environment
The center is located in Aguadilla on the western coast of Puerto Rico, in a private, tranquil, designation-style environment. Care staff deliver services in both English and Spanish. The facility is small, allowing clinicians to dedicate individual attention to each client. When clients are feeling up to it, they can enjoy a fitness center, game room, scenic outdoor spaces, and on-site barber services.
Withdrawal Management and Residential Treatment
During the withdrawal management phase, clients receive 24/7 medical support to make sure the process is going smoothly, safely, and as comfortably as possible. Clients who are withdrawing from opioids or alcohol can be prescribed MAT when needed. Once clients are stabilized, they can transition to residential treatment at the same location. Along with evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), treatment plans include mindfulness, recreation therapy, wellness activities such as massage, and group outings to the beach.
Mental Health and Trauma Support
Clients who have co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or mood disorders can receive psychiatric treatment at the same time as caring for their substance use disorders. The same goes for clients who are struggling with trauma, including PTSD. This integration of mental and emotional health concerns into substance use care can be crucial for those whose addiction stems from or is worsened by these conditions. Addressing them all at once can result in a more thorough, lasting recovery.
Specialized Care for Veterans
Clinicians are trained to support veterans through recovery. This includes addressing military service-related stress, trauma, and reintegration challenges. Veterans can heal alongside peers who can relate to their experiences, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is available as a trauma-focused therapy approach.
Lifelong Alumni Program
When clients leave residential treatment, they have access to a lifelong alumni program which offers peer coaching through call and text, as well as online support meetings. This helps keep peers connected long-term to provide ongoing connection and support for one another.
