Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who are seeking structured outpatient mental health treatment with support for co-occurring substance use concerns; need more support than traditional outpatient therapy but do not require 24-hour care; are interested in PHP or IOP services; want family involvement in treatment; would benefit from supportive housing while attending PHP; and value individualized treatment planning focused on mental health and emotional wellness.
Not a fit if: Adults who need medical detoxification, inpatient psychiatric stabilization, or residential substance use treatment; are seeking a highly restrictive treatment environment; rely solely on Medicaid or Medicare coverage; or require frequent on-site visitation during treatment.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Intake and admission: Assessment begins before admission and continues through the intake process. During the pre-assessment call, clients undergo clinical screening, insurance review, and their level of care is determined. During admission, clients may participate in psychiatric, psychological, and medical evaluations. Intake may include a urine screening, safety protocols, consent forms, and assignment to a primary therapist.
- Individualized treatment planning: Care plans are developed with the client, their primary therapist, a psychiatrist, and the clinical team. Presenting mental health concerns, substance use challenges, family dynamics, and recovery goals are all taken into consideration. Family involvement can be included in the treatment plans as well.
Who you will meet with
- Therapists and clinicians: Clients may work with a primary therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, group facilitators, and other clinical professionals. They provide therapy, treatment planning, recovery education, and ongoing support during treatment.
- Medical and support staff: Medical providers and case management staff coordinate care. They monitor treatment needs, support medication management, and help with discharge and aftercare planning.
- Specialized programming providers: Outside specialists may also be brought in to provide support for trauma-focused programming, medication management groups, educational sessions, and addiction education.
Typical schedule
- Individual and group therapy: Clients take part in weekly individual therapy and many therapeutic groups throughout the week. Programming may include mental health education, trauma-related recovery, emotional regulation, recovery skills, addiction education, and medication management education.
- Family programming: Family therapy sessions, family-focused groups, virtual family sessions, and scheduled in-person family sessions are in place to support treatment goals that strengthen their relationships with loved-ones.
- PHP: Daily schedules may include clinical programming, group participation, individual sessions, and scheduled activities during the day. Time is also set aside for personal downtime, self-reflection, therapeutic assignments, journaling, worksheets, and practicing skills learned during treatment.
Living experiences and amenities
- Supportive housing for PHP clients: Supportive housing is available during the program. Housing costs are separated from what insurance covers so this should be taken into account. Residents cannot host visitors, but family members may be able to take clients off site for meals or visits upon approval. Clients staying in housing have access to gym transportation three to four times a week,
Aftercare
- Multiple levels of care: Clients can move between PHP, IOP, and outpatient treatment as their needs change. This helps them stay within the same treatment system during different recovery stages.
- Aftercare and ongoing support: Continued support may include case management, care coordination, discharge planning, and aftercare planning. These services are intended to help clients prepare for their recovery after formal treatment ends.
