What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Same-day assessments: Staff collect details from clients about their substance use history, mental health needs, personal goals, and any stress and trauma factors.
- Plan creation: Clients work directly with a counselor to develop a treatment plan that fits their needs and situation. These plans guide therapy and are frequently reassessed and adjusted.
- Measuring progress: Movement between levels of care (PHP, IOP, and OP) is based on stability, clinical progress, and the ability to handle increased independence.
Who you will meet with
- Therapists and counselors: Licensed therapists lead individual counseling sessions, and group facilitators lead peer groups.
- Psychiatrists and nurses: Address clients’ physical and mental health needs and take care of medication management as needed.
- Clinical team: Oversee client progress and level-of-care transitions.
- Case managers: Provide support for practical needs such as housing, recovery planning, and social services.
Typical schedule
- PHP: Held approximately 5 days per week for about 6 hours per day, this program includes individual, group, and family therapy, skill-building workshops, peer support, and medication management as appropriate.
- IOP: This program starts at about 5 days per week and gradually tapers to 1 day per week, with each session lasting about 3 hours. Schedules include individual and group therapy, life skills, relapse prevention, and gradual re-introduction of day-to-day responsibilities.
- OP: Typically consisting of one session per week, this stage centers around ongoing therapy, accountability, maintaining progress, and increasing independence.
Living experiences and amenities
- Comfortable setting: Clients have access to welcoming therapy rooms decorated with artwork, relaxation spaces, lounge areas, and a kitchenette with a coffee and tea setup.
- Holistic approaches: Along with evidence-based therapy, clients can participate in yoga, mindfulness, and stress management education.
- Optional sober living arrangements: When desired, staff can connect clients with vetted sober living with peer accountability. Transportation assistance is available.
Aftercare
- Step-down options: Clients can move to the next level of outpatient care as they are ready, as well as join community support groups such as 12-step meetings.
- Continuing support: Clients have access to alumni engagement, peer mentorship, and connections to community resources.
