Structured weekday programming
Clients take part in about five to six hours of therapies and recovery activities from Monday to Friday. The daily process groups are led by therapists and can include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychoeducation groups, mindfulness groups, and EMDR. The goal is to build coping skills, manage emotions, and create recovery tools while working through mental health challenges. The schedule keeps clients involved in their care. It also helps them build healthy routines and stay accountable.
Collaborative co-occurring treatment planning
Clients meet with a master's-level therapist shortly after admission. During this first individual session they work together to develop a personalized treatment plan based on individual needs, recovery goals, and clinical progress. The plan can change during recovery as progress is made and priorities evolve. Clients stay an active participant in the development of their treatment throughout levels of care. Treatment is designed to support clients in both substance use and underlying mental health needs with a focus on addressing trauma. Medication management is addressed during weekly meetings with medical staff.
Home-like residential living environment
The facility offers a large residential home instead of a hospital-style environment. Most rooms are shared with one or two roommates and private rooms may be available for an additional cost. Though housing is co-ed, bathrooms are separated by gender. Common living areas are available for clients to relax and watch television during free time. Clients go to the gym three times a week and have the opportunity to go for walks and hikes in the surrounding Utah area with weekend activities including trips off-site to places like the aquarium or bowling.
Family contact and communication during treatment
Personal cell phones are not permitted during treatment, though clients have the opportunity to call members of their support system on the first day of treatment. Family visitation is available on Sundays from 1. - 5 p.m. The facility’s policies are intended to limit distractions and outside influences that may inhibit recovery but it does encourage healthy communication with family and personal support systems during treatment.
