Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need structured outpatient addiction and co-occurring mental health treatment while continuing work, school, parenting, or family responsibilities; are transitioning from inpatient or residential treatment but still need regular therapeutic support; benefit from consistent group therapy and weekly therapist check-ins and reassessment; or want a community-oriented treatment environment with family involvement and integrated mental health care.

  • Not a fit if: Individuals needing 24/7 medical supervision, medically monitored detox, or inpatient stabilization; are actively using substances in a way that may require residential treatment first; need complete separation from triggering home environments; cannot commit to multiple weekly treatment sessions; or are seeking luxury-style residential amenities or exclusively holistic treatment approaches.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Intake screening: The first step in treatment is an initial 15-20 minute clinical and medical screening telephone session. This session assesses several important factors about the client, including substance use history, mental health issues, safety concerns, and overall preparedness for outpatient treatment. The admission process is clinical in nature as opposed to strictly administrative.
  • Individualized care planning: Every client's care plan is tailored around their specific recovery objectives, identified mental health issues, personal trauma history, and what type of service they would best benefit from. In addition, clients are required to meet one-on-one with their assigned therapist every week so that there can be continuous assessment and evaluation of their needs. Services and any needed changes can be made to their treatment plan accordingly.

Who you will meet with

  • Medical and clinical staff: Clients work with various licensed professionals such as therapists, counselors, case managers and registered nurses who coordinate their medical and psychological needs as individuals move through treatment. In addition to treating substance dependence, there is also an emphasis on addressing co-occurring mental health issues.
  • Primary therapist support: Weekly mandatory one-on-one sessions with a primary therapist are a requirement in this program. During these sessions, clients can assess overall progress toward their treatment objectives, address trauma-related issues and mental health-related symptoms, and develop a plan for continued care after completing the intensive portion of the program.
  • Group and peer support: The group therapy is a major part of the treatment process and provides regular opportunities for clients to interact with peers within a structured setting that offers accountability while allowing clients to continue with their daily routine of maintaining employment, attending school, and meeting family obligations.

Typical schedule

  • IOP scheduling: Daytime intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and includes nine hours of group therapy and one hour of individual therapy weekly. Evening programming is also available for clients unable to attend daytime sessions.
  • Group structure and daily experience: Group therapy is an integral component of treatment and provides clients with a means for social support through peer accountability, relapse prevention, and processing of emotions. Group sessions may incorporate recovery principles associated with 12-Step programming and other evidence-based approaches. After completing daily treatment, each client returns home and is expected to continue to apply the coping techniques and recovery tools they have learned during their sessions.

Aftercare

  • Continuing care planning: Recovery support planning begins during an individual's treatment process as opposed to at the time of discharge from the program. Clients can be referred for aftercare therapy, step-down outpatient programming, sober living, relapse prevention planning, or other recovery services that meet each client's unique needs.
  • Ongoing recovery support: Continued support options may include peer recovery meetings, alumni programming, community engagement opportunities, and digital recovery resources such as the alumni support app. These will assist in providing each client with the ability to maintain accountability through their transition back to daily routines while maintaining access to recovery support.
