Methadone treatment with counseling and monitoring
Outpatient treatment for adults with opioid use disorder that uses methadone to help clients reduce cravings and ease withdrawal symptoms. Clients meet with medical staff regularly, and a physician or physician assistant prescribes methadone and adjusts the dosage as needed. Medication is paired with individual and group counseling. Groups typically meet weekly and address various topics, such as life skills and relapse prevention. Individual therapy schedules are based on client needs.
Treatment that allows clients to continue living at home
The outpatient structure allows clients to live at home, making it possible to continue working, caring for family, and managing other everyday responsibilities during treatment. As treatment progresses, clients may qualify for take-home medications, depending on clinical stability. This reduces the amount of time spent at the facility, allowing clients more freedom in their daily lives.
A structured intake and treatment process
Clients begin the intake process by completing registration paperwork and consent forms and then having a comprehensive clinical assessment with a counselor. A medical provider takes a medical history and performs a physical exam. Bloodwork and a urine drug screen are also completed to help the team determine if clients are eligible for treatment. Monitoring continues after admission, with random weekly drug tests during the first 90 days. After this period, random drug testing shifts to a monthly schedule.
Aftercare planning begins during treatment
Discharge planning starts early and is refined throughout care. Depending on their needs, aftercare may include connections with available community support and resources, referrals to an outside treatment provider, or counseling through Concord CTC.
