When certain filters are selected—or on pages specifically tailored to a certain audience, treatment type, or accepted insurance—we also heavily weigh a facility’s relevance to your stated needs.

The most important factor in our algorithm is the Trust Score. This is a composite metric that measures a facility's established reputation and commitment to clinical excellence.
What earns an "A+" Grade? A facility only receives our highest "A+" ranking if it meets a rigorous set of three criteria:
Gold-Standard Accreditation: Must hold current accreditation from either The Joint Commission or CARF (the two leading oversight bodies in behavioral health).
Proven Longevity: Must have been in continuous operation for 20 years or more, demonstrating long-term stability and community presence.
Third-Party Validation: Must be positively cited or recognized by multiple trusted local entities, such as public health departments, journalists at reputable news publications, or established local non-profits.

Once trust is established, we prioritize geographic relevance.
Hyper-Local Priority: Our algorithm favors centers located within the exact city you are searching in.
Accessibility: We aim to reduce barriers to care by highlighting the most reputable options closest to your front door.
The next layer of our ranking is availability status. We know that when you or a loved one needs help, "now" is the most important time.
Transparency Note on Availability: We receive real-time availability data primarily from facilities we have a direct relationship with.
Paid & Non-Paid Partnerships: Some of these are paid relationships. However, many are not; we provide this availability-tracking service free of charge to non-profits that serve under-resourced communities.
Neutrality: A facility’s financial relationship with us does not influence our Trust Score requirements.
The final layer of our ranking is profile completeness. To ensure a transparent and accurate view of a facility, we elevate listings with heavily verified and complete profiles. Examples of verified elements that boost a profile's ranking include:
Financial & Insurance Transparency: Clear cost data, pricing structures, and independently confirmed in-network insurance coverage.
Firsthand Vetting: Insights gathered directly from our independent "secret shopper" evaluations and interviews with facility leadership.
Visual Proof: Verified photo galleries that provide an accurate look at the environment before arrival.
