Specialized Care for Teens and Young Adults

Sandstone Care Denver is designed for adolescents ages 13–17 and young adults ages 18–30, recognizing that recovery looks different at each stage of life. Treatment blends individual and group therapy with age-specific discussions about school, career goals, and relationships. Clinical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) are combined with holistic practices like mindfulness, art, and music therapy to create a balanced experience.

Flexible Outpatient Programs

The center provides two levels of outpatient care. Day treatment involves about five hours of programming, five days a week, for four weeks. Many clients then step down to intensive outpatient programming (IOP), which offers around 12 hours of therapy spread over three to four days. These schedules allow clients to maintain school or work commitments while engaging in consistent care. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) are available when clinically appropriate to support recovery.

Academic, Vocational, and Life Skills Support

Academic and vocational support are integrated into treatment, helping clients keep pace with school, prepare for college, or explore career opportunities. Life skills workshops address practical needs like budgeting, organization, and job readiness. This focus equips young people with tools to rebuild stability and confidence during and after treatment.

Family Engagement in Recovery

Family involvement is central to the program. Weekly multi-family groups and biweekly family therapy sessions help parents and loved ones learn about substance use, mental health, communication, and boundary-setting. By addressing family dynamics, the program fosters healthier relationships and a stronger support system for recovery at home.

Sandstone Care Denver treats co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder. Clients also benefit from alumni events and peer connections that extend support beyond treatment completion.
