Overview

Ocean State Recovery Center offers comprehensive outpatient treatment for addiction and dual diagnosis disorders through evidence-based therapies, along with the support of 12 step fellowship and medication assisted treatment (MAT). The day treatment (partial hospitalization, or PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed to unmask and treat the root causes of addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. Ocean State Recovery Center also offers specific programming for families of those in recovery, for active and former military, and for those with stimulant use disorder.

Comprehensive Family Programming and Support Network

  • Weekly family support group open to the public.
  • Designed to help families establish boundaries, avoid enabling their loved one, understand co-dependency, and practice self-care for themselves.
  • Access to community support groups, such as Al-Anon, Nar-Anon, Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL), Families Anonymous, SMART Recovery Family & Friends, GRASP (Grief Recovery After Substance Passing), and NAMI Family Support Group (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Specific Support for Stimulant Use Disorder

  • Ongoing physiological and medical evaluation to address the dysregulation of endocrine systems and other symptoms caused by prolonged stimulant use.
  • Non-pharmaceutical methods are also used to help manage cortisol and serotonin dysregulation consistent with prolonged stimulant use.
  • Treatment may include psychotherapy interventions for mood stabilization, craving suppression, and hyper-vigilance management.

Veterans and Uniformed Service Program

  • Individualized treatment plan based on comprehensive psychiatric, medical, and biopsychosocial assessments and a team of doctors, counselors, and case managers who evaluate each person’s needs.

Treatment Program

  • Day treatment entails an assigned, licensed primary therapist and 25-30 hours of clinical and medical services each week, usually for 4-6 weeks, depending on progress toward treatment goals.
  • A typical day treatment program includes 3-4 clinical groups, individual therapy, meeting with a prescriber, and case management services.
  • IOP typically follows day treatment and includes programming for 3 hours per day for up to 5 days per week, during day or evening hours.
  • IOP aims to help clients navigate early recovery in the midst of work, school, and family life demands.
  • Outpatient treatment emphasizes community and the opportunity to learn from those with more time and experience in recovery.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is used in treatment with a special focus on behavioral sleep medicine to treat insomnia and other sleep disturbances.
