Overview

Flexible outpatient care for substance use and mental health concerns includes trauma-focused treatment with support for employment, budgeting, and building a daily routine. Staff have lived experience in recovery, and about one third are program alumni. A partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) offer clients structured care while they continue to live at home or in nearby supportive housing, which may be available for those in the PHP program. Day, evening, and virtual IOP options may be available to provide flexibility outside of daily responsibilities.

Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who want treatment for substance use, co-occurring mental health conditions, or primary mental health concerns; may need trauma-focused treatment; are stepping down from residential treatment but still need structured care; desire access to job-search support, financial budgeting, life skills, and help coordinating medical appointments; and want access to day, evening, or virtual IOP.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who need on-site withdrawal management (detox) and want an electronics-free treatment environment.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial assessment: During intake, each client undergoes an assessment to identify their substance use and mental health concerns, trauma history, needs, strengths, and goals. Clients then work with the care team to develop a personalized treatment plan.
  • Ongoing care reviews: The care team reviews the treatment plan regularly, both internally and with clients. Treatment is adjusted based on recovery progress or setbacks. Case managers may also assess client needs that relate to returning to daily life.

Who you will meet with

  • Clinical team: Master’s-level licensed therapists provide trauma-focused care, while an in-house psychiatrist and medical provider support clients’ medical and psychiatric needs. Group facilitators and behavioral health staff are also available to support treatment and daily programming.
  • Case managers and recovery experience: Clients will also work with case managers who support them in areas such as employment, budgeting, and external health care. All staff have been in recovery themselves, and about one third are program alumni. This provides a unique perspective of lived experience that helps staff understand and support clients.

Typical schedule

  • Program hours and daily activities: The PHP runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and may include therapy groups, substance use and mental health education, and individual sessions. After 2 p.m., facility activities may include recovery meetings, job-search assistance, job fairs, budgeting, and case management. The IOP includes approximately 9 to 15 hours of treatment per week and includes day and evening scheduling as well as virtual programs.
  • Therapy and wellness: Individual and group counseling may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Trauma-focused treatment may explore experiences that are connected to substance use and mental health concerns, while relapse prevention planning is intended to help clients prepare for challenges they may experience outside of care. Clients may also take part in yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and stress reduction activities.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Housing, electronics, and visitation: Supportive housing is available for clients in PHP and is located less than a minute from the facility. Cellphones and other electronics are allowed. Sunday visitation with family and loved ones takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Aftercare

  • Support for daily life: During step-down care, clients have access to support that helps them build daily routines and manage their responsibilities outside of treatment. The facility may offer help with job searches, job fairs, life skills, budgeting, external medical appointments, and access to housing resources.
  • Relapse prevention and ongoing connection: Relapse prevention planning is intended to help clients prepare for challenges they may run into as they return to everyday life. Support groups and alumni resources provide opportunities for continued connection to peers and support after formal care has been completed.

Pre-admissions experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on October 1, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we contacted Monument Recovery, we reached an in-house admissions and alumni coordinator on the first attempt. They were warm, easy to talk to, and helpful without being salesy. Having completed the program themselves, they shared firsthand insight and clear answers about costs, payment plans, daily schedules, and support after treatment.

Some also mention continued support after treatment. A small number describe feeling unsupported during conflicts or program transitions. “The friendships I've made here are amazing.”

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
