IOP scheduling options
The IOP program is designed for clients who need to keep up with their day-to-day responsibilities while working on their recovery. Clients can choose between morning and evening sessions, or a combination of both. Most clients attend sessions four days per week, though some may go three days per week instead. Each session is three hours long. The IOP usually lasts for six to eight weeks, but this can be adjusted based on individual needs and progress. Some clients step down to IOP from higher levels of care, such as residential or partial hospitalization (PHP), while others may start treatment directly in IOP.
Personalized care planning
Treatment plans are adapted to individual circumstances, requirements, and personal goals. When the program begins, clients meet with a counselor to develop a unique recovery path that fits. Care is monitored throughout the program by primary therapists and group facilitators, and plans can be adjusted based on progress and any challenges clients may face.
12-Step, evidence-based approaches, and holistic options
Throughout the program, a 12-Step foundation and peer support are blended with evidence-based therapies. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention strategies. Clients who have co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression can receive treatment for these at the same time as substance use. Treatment is also available for those who are struggling with gambling addiction. Holistic approaches involve relaxation exercises, arts and crafts, optional spirituality, and recreation.
Group, individual, and family therapy
Group therapy is the cornerstone of the IOP program. One-on-one sessions with a primary therapist can be added weekly, or on an as-needed basis depending on clients’ care plans and individual needs. When desired by the client, family support services can be incorporated. Clients can also choose to have loved ones updated throughout the program.
