Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who are seeking structured outpatient treatment for substance use, primary mental health conditions, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; stepping down from residential treatment, want support from clinicians with extensive mental health experience; want scheduling flexibility through daytime or virtual evening IOP program options; may benefit from temporary housing while attending PHP.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who need medically supervised residential treatment or withdrawal management (detox); housing beyond PHP.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Personalized treatment planning: Clinicians develop a personalized care plan based on each client's personal history, clinical background, current needs, and previous treatment experiences. Whether a client's primary needs involve mental health, substance use, or co-occurring conditions is taken into consideration to put them in one of three individualized tracks.
  • Ongoing treatment reviews: Clients meet weekly with their therapist and psychiatric provider to review care plans and medications. A coordinated step-down process is included for clients entering from residential treatment.

Who you will meet with

  • Therapy team: Individual therapists or clinicians meet with clients weekly for individual therapy and continued treatment planning, while group facilitators lead daily group therapy during the PHP using a rotating curriculum that focuses on behavioral health, mental health, and recovery.
  • Medical and support team: A psychiatric nurse practitioner supports clients with weekly medication management and evaluation of medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when determined to be appropriate. A case manager is available to coordinate treatment, discharge planning, and connect clients to additional services and community resources.

Typical schedule

  • Partial hospitalization program (PHP): The PHP meets Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Clients can expect to participate in daily group therapy, weekly individual therapy, weekly psychiatric medication management, and case management services. Clients staying in supportive housing also take part in additional programs on Sundays for the 4–6-week length of the program.
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP): The IOP takes place Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for in-person care or Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. through a virtual evening track. This is intended to support clients balancing recovery and life responsibilities.
  • Therapeutic programming: Daily group therapy focuses on helping clients understand the underlying causes of mental health and substance use challenges. Treatment types can include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused care, Brainspotting (a therapy that uses specific eye positions to access, process, and release deep-seated trauma), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Aftercare

  • Continued support: Upon completing higher levels of care, clients have access to an outpatient program that includes one therapy group each week in addition to weekly alumni meetings and dedicated alumni coordination.
  • Community referrals: Prior to discharge, staff help connect clients to individual therapists, psychiatric providers, and other community resources to support long-term recovery.
