Fully virtual opioid use disorder treatment
Clients can receive opioid use disorder treatment entirely through telehealth, allowing them to access care from home as opposed to attending appointments in a physical clinic. The admissions process is intended to be accessible and begins with a remote screening and medical evaluation, followed by an individualized treatment plan. This can help clients with work, family responsibilities, transportation challenges, privacy concerns, or other barriers that make in-person treatment more difficult.
Specialized focus on opioid use disorder
Compared to many addiction treatment programs that support a wide range of substance use disorders, Bicycle Health focuses directly on opioid use disorder. Care may include MAT and if found clinically appropriate, individuals can receive a prescription for buprenorphine or naltrexone on the same day. This is combined with counseling, relapse prevention, and evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. The program may also accept individuals who are already receiving MAT from another facility and are looking for options to continue treatment through a telehealth provider.
Recovery coaching, counseling, and peer support
Care goes beyond medication management and includes multiple layers of recovery support. Clients can access recovery coaches, peer support services, online support groups, individual counseling, and group therapy. Additionally, they can also gain access to mental health support, case management, discharge planning, naloxone education, and continued follow-up help. This is intended to provide support for continued connection and accountability through the entire treatment process as opposed to focusing only on medication appointments.
Designed to help start treatment quickly
The facility's system is designed to reduce common barriers that often can delay treatment. Individuals can start the intake process with a remote consultation and medical evaluation. They don't need to travel to a clinic. If found to be clinically appropriate, medication may be prescribed quickly. This can often allow treatment to begin sooner than some traditional office-based programs. Routine commuting to the clinic becomes unnecessary, meaning clients don't need to coordinate transportation planning, and can avoid waiting-room visits. This is all intended to make opioid use disorder treatment more accessible.
