Short-Term Medical Withdrawal Management (Detox) with 24/7 Admissions
Gateway Recovery Center Brooklyn Park is a residential, 24-hour medical withdrawal management program for adults 18 and older. Most clients stay 2–7 days while they safely withdraw from alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other substances. Medical staff provide ongoing monitoring and use medications for addiction treatment (MAT) to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
Support for Co-Occurring Mental Health, Pain, and Trauma
Many clients arrive with more than one concern. Gateway is set up to treat substance use and co-occurring mental health needs together. Treatment can include trauma-related counseling and specialized support for veterans, active-duty military, justice-involved clients, people living with HIV, and those who have experienced sexual or intimate partner violence.
Screening and Daily Therapies
On arrival, clients receive a comprehensive substance use assessment, a full medical history and physical exam, and screening for a variety of substances. Core treatment approaches include brief interventions, motivational interviewing, the Matrix Model, and substance use counseling. Clients meet in individual and group sessions, and can join on-site 12-step and other self-help groups. Recovery coaches, peer support, and health education help clients understand their risks and options once they leave the center.
Coordinated Next Steps and Ongoing Support
Discharge planning and continuing care coordination begin early in the stay. Case managers stay in contact with families to provide updates and help plan next steps. Continuing care coordinators connect clients to residential treatment, partial hospitalization, outpatient programs, mental health care, sober living, harm reduction services, or other community support as needed. Staff can also assist with accessing social services and provide naloxone and overdose education to reduce overdose risk after discharge.
