Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults who are medically stable and do not need 24/7 supervision; are stepping down from detox or residential treatment and want structured outpatient support; need care that can fit around work, school, or family responsibilities; would benefit from treatment for both substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns; have private insurance or can self-pay.
Not a fit if: Those who need medical detox, round-the-clock supervision, or a residential level of care; are actively withdrawing from alcohol, benzodiazepines, sedatives, or opioids; or want to use Medicare or Medicaid.
What to expect
Typical schedule
- PHP: Held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., PHP includes more than 20 hours of weekly clinical care and is designed for people who need strong daytime structure without overnight treatment.
- IOP: Held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, IOP offers a lower level of structure for people balancing treatment with daily responsibilities.
- Outpatient: Standard outpatient care is also available, with sessions based on individual needs.
Developing your care plan
- Intake screening: Admission starts with a 15- to 20-minute clinical and medical phone screening that reviews substance use, psychological history, medical history, and recovery needs.
- Creating care plans: Staff build an individualized treatment plan based on client goals and the most appropriate level of care.
- Reassessments: For PHP clients, progress is monitored through weekly medical and psychiatric follow-up, and treatment can be adjusted as needs change.
Who you will meet with
- Licensed clinicians: The outpatient team includes nine licensed clinicians, including EMDR-trained staff, who lead individual and group treatment.
- Case managers: Three dedicated case managers help with discharge planning, sober living coordination, and practical next steps.
- Medical providers: Onsite medical and psychiatric providers support treatment needs, especially for clients in PHP.
- A primary therapist: Clients can expect ongoing support from a primary therapist as they move through care.
Aftercare
- Step-down support: Clients can move between levels of care within the broader Desert Hope network as their needs change.
- Ongoing connection: Support includes discharge planning, continuing care, alumni support, and nearby sober living with transportation for clients who need more structure after treatment.
Pre-Admissions Experience
We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on April 16, 2026 to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.
When we reached out to Desert Hope, the admissions team described an admissions process that sounded structured and straightforward. They provided a brief but thorough phone screening, explained how treatment plans are matched to each client’s needs, and gave clear details about PHP and IOP schedules. The call also suggested that outpatient admission may be available the same day or within 24 hours, depending on clinical fit and availability.
